WOW!

This was a phenomenal production featuring only 6 actors who sang a large majority of the show. While there are no big ensemble-style dance numbers the choreography really gave a lot to the flow and emotion of the story. The use of the stage backgrounds for digital imagery also helped immerse you in the dynamic and emotion. But the true beauty of this show was the heart of each actor that was so openly poured out on the stage. This show is EMOTIONAL! Please not the warnings at the bottom of this post and take them to heart. This show doesn't just include heavy subject matter, the WHOLE show is heavy subject matter. You will find a giggle here and there but if you've ever been personally affected by any of these topics, I would suggest being prepared with some tissues.

But I do highly recommend getting out and seeing this.

Dad’s an architect; Mom rushes to pack lunches and pour cereal; their daughter and son are bright, wise-cracking teens, appearing to be a typical American family. And yet their lives are anything but normal because the mother has been battling bipolar disorder for 16 years. Next to Normal takes audiences into the minds and hearts of each character, presenting their family’s story with love, sympathy and heart.

This show contains flashing lights and simulated drug use. Content warnings include: Adult language and themes; serious mental health issues and treatments; drug use/abuse; discussions of death, suicide, loss, and grief.
