I have been counting the days for this show since it was announced. Cruel Intentions the 90s Musical by Outskirts Theatre Co was my second show of 2025. I seemed to be in the minority on opening night that was familiar with the movie. But I had no idea what to expect from it as a musical. I was NOT disappointed, though. The music couldn't have been more perfect, with so many great pop favorites perfectly timed. Overall, the musical has fun with this storyline without losing too much of the dark sexiness. Is it for everyone? Definitely not, but I think it's perfect for my fellow Gen X'ers.

Fun, sexyFun, sexy, and seductive, Cruel Intentions is the ultimate ‘90s throwback. Venture into the rich and manipulative world of step-siblings Sebastian Valmont and Kathryn Merteuil. Driven by revenge, lust, and passion, and oblivious to the feelings of others, the siblings make an eventful bet: can Sebastian seduce the new headmaster’s daughter, Annette Hargrove, and strip her of her prized virginity? Meanwhile, can Kathryn get her revenge on naive and innocent student Cecile, who Kathryn blames for wrecking her last relationship? The chase is on for both siblings! However, Sebastian soon learns that there is one issue getting in the way that he could never have imagined: love., and seductive, Cruel Intentions is the ultimate ‘90s throwback.
