Annie at Marcus Performing Arts

The movie was one of my favorites when I was little so when it was an option to add to our season ticket, I knew I HAD to see it!

And I was not disappointed!

The stage was simple but utilized beautifully to portray the wide range of locations from the dumpy orphanage to the opulent Warbucks mansion.

The young actress who played Annie was phenomenal. She had the perfect sweet demeanor along with a STRONG voice. She nailed Tomorrow and gave me chills.

Some might argue that the actress playing Miss Hannigan stole the show. I'm not sure anyone can ever truly replace the fantastic physical comedy of Carol Burnett in the 1982 movie version. But this was pretty darn close and had the crowd laughing constantly.

Holding onto hope when times are tough can take an awful lot of determination, and sometimes, an awful lot of determination comes in a surprisingly small package. Little Orphan Annie has reminded generations of theatergoers that sunshine is always right around the corner, and now the best-loved musical of all time is set to return in a new production – just as you remember it and just when we need it most.
